The NORDIC PURE 18x20x1PM8C-24 is a pleated MERV 8 air filter with an integrated activated carbon layer, designed for residential and light-commercial HVAC systems. The dual-material construction fuses MERV-rated filtration media with a carbon layer, reducing airflow restriction while delivering 33 percent more surface area compared to single-layer designs. This combination captures airborne particulates and adsorbs odorous gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including smoke, cooking smells, and pet odors. Each filter nominal size is 18x20x1 inches with an actual size of 17.5 x 19.5 x 0.75 inches. The pack includes 24 filters. Licensed HVAC technicians and knowledgeable DIYers install this filter as a scheduled maintenance replacement in forced-air systems.
This filter is suited for residential homes and light-commercial spaces where both particulate control and odor reduction are priorities. It performs well in households with pets, smokers, or frequent cooking, and in any environment where VOC or odor buildup is a concern. The electrostatic media acts as a passive magnet for airborne dust and particulates, improving with each air pass. NORDIC PURE rates the MERV 8 Plus Carbon series as equivalent to an MPR 800 filter, making it a direct performance comparison point for techs familiar with that rating system. Recommended replacement interval is every 30 to 90 days depending on indoor and outdoor air quality conditions.
Designed as a direct nominal-size replacement for standard 18x20x1 filter slots in residential and light-commercial forced-air furnace, air handler, and central air conditioning systems. Actual filter dimensions are 17.5 x 19.5 x 0.75 inches - verify your filter slot's actual opening before installation.
Installation is performed by a licensed HVAC technician or a qualified service professional following standard preventive maintenance procedures. Power down the furnace or air handler at the disconnect or thermostat before removing the old filter. Note the airflow direction arrow printed on the filter frame and orient the replacement filter so the arrow points toward the blower. Dispose of the used filter in a sealed bag to contain trapped particulates and odors.
