The NORDIC PURE 18x18x2PM10C-12 is a pleated MERV 10 air filter with an integrated activated carbon layer, designed for residential and light-commercial HVAC systems. The dual-material construction fuses a MERV 10-rated filtration media with a carbon layer, resulting in 33% more surface area than comparable single-material designs and reduced airflow restriction. The activated carbon attracts and holds odorous gases, vapors, and VOCs while the pleated media captures airborne particulates. Filter media is permanently electrostatically charged to attract and hold dust. The frame is a heavy-duty, moisture-resistant beverage board with a metal mesh support grid bonded to the pleats. Licensed HVAC technicians and knowledgeable DIYers alike install this filter as a direct drop-in replacement during routine maintenance intervals.
This filter is suited for forced-air gas furnaces, heat pumps, and central air conditioning systems where both particulate capture and odor control are priorities. Typical applications include homes with pets, smokers, or occupants with allergies or respiratory sensitivities. The MERV 10 rating captures lint, household dust, pollen, smoke particles, dust mites, pet dander, virus carriers, mold spores, and bacteria. Nordic Pure rates this filter as equivalent to MPR 1000. Each box contains 12 filters at the 18x18x2 nominal size. Recommended replacement interval is every 30 to 90 days depending on indoor and outdoor air quality conditions.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for residential and light-commercial forced-air furnace, air handler, and central AC systems that accept a nominal 18x18x2 filter. Verify actual slot dimensions against the actual filter size of 17.75 x 17.75 x 1.75 inches before installation, as nominal and actual filter dimensions differ.
This filter is typically installed by HVAC technicians or qualified building maintenance staff, though informed homeowners frequently perform the replacement. Always set the thermostat to off and verify the air handler has stopped before opening the filter compartment. Insert the filter with the airflow arrow on the frame pointing toward the blower. Inspect the filter slot for bypass gaps and seal as needed to ensure all return air passes through the media.
