The NORDIC PURE 16x25x1PM8C-12 is a dual-layer pleated air filter combining a MERV 8 electrostatic filter media with a fused activated carbon layer. The MERV 8 rating allows the filter to capture lint, household dust, pollen, dust mites, mold spores, pet dander, and other airborne particulates, while the carbon layer adsorbs odorous gases, vapors, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This design delivers 33% more surface area compared to standard pleated filters and maintains strong airflow with less restriction. The filter is sold in a 12-pack and is sized at 15.5 x 24.5 x 0.75 inches actual dimensions. It is installed by HVAC technicians and knowledgeable homeowners in residential forced-air heating and cooling systems.
This filter is appropriate for residential furnaces, air handlers, and central air conditioning systems where both particulate control and odor reduction are priorities. It is well suited for households with pets, cooking odors, or occupants sensitive to airborne allergens. The MERV 8 Plus Carbon rating is comparable to filters carrying an MPR rating of 800. Regular replacement every 30 to 90 days is recommended to maintain filtration efficiency, and more frequent changes are advised during home renovation or remodeling activity when airborne particulate loads are elevated.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 16x25x1 nominal-size filter slots in residential forced-air furnaces, air handlers, and central air conditioning systems. Verify the actual opening dimensions against the actual filter size of 15.5 x 24.5 x 0.75 inches before installation, as nominal and actual sizes differ.
A licensed HVAC technician or qualified service professional should shut down the furnace or air handler at the thermostat and disconnect power at the disconnect switch or breaker before servicing the filter compartment. Note the airflow direction arrow printed on the filter frame and orient the filter so the arrow points toward the blower. Inspect the filter slot and surrounding cabinet for air bypass gaps and seal as needed to ensure all return air passes through the filter media. Follow local mechanical codes and manufacturer service instructions when replacing filters in any heating or cooling system.
