The NORDIC PURE 16x20x2M14+C-12 is a MERV 14 pleated air filter with an integrated activated carbon layer, designed for residential and light-commercial HVAC systems. The filter media is electrostatically charged synthetic material that captures fine airborne particulates. A flat activated carbon panel is bonded to the media to adsorb odorous gases and volatile organic compounds (VOC). The beverage board frame is moisture resistant, and a metal mesh support grid is bonded to the pleats for structural integrity. This is a 12-pack with a nominal size of 16 by 20 by 2 inches and an actual size of 15.5 by 19.5 by 1.75 inches. HVAC technicians and building service professionals install these filters in forced-air systems that are rated to accept MERV 14 or higher filtration.
These filters are suited for residential forced-air furnace and air conditioning systems that require high-efficiency particulate and odor control. The MERV 14 rating captures dust, pollen, mold spores, pet dander, smog, dust mite debris, smoke, and bacteria. The activated carbon element addresses household odors, VOC, and smoke particulates. The antimicrobial media inhibits bacterial and mold growth within the filter itself. Because of the higher air flow restriction associated with MERV 14 filtration, the HVAC system must be rated to handle MERV 14 and above. These filters are comparable to MPR 2800-rated filters and are particularly well suited for newer high-efficiency systems. Replacing the filter every 30 to 90 days maintains system efficiency.
Designed for forced-air residential HVAC systems rated to accept MERV 14 or higher filtration, including newer high-efficiency systems that typically accept HEPA-grade filters. Nominal size is 16 by 20 by 2 inches; actual size is 15.5 by 19.5 by 1.75 inches. Verify actual filter slot dimensions before ordering, as nominal and actual sizes differ.
Installation is performed by HVAC technicians or qualified service personnel. Shut down the air handler or furnace at the thermostat and disconnect power before removing the old filter. Confirm airflow direction by matching the arrow on the filter frame to the direction of airflow toward the blower. Because MERV 14 filters increase static pressure, verify that the HVAC system is rated to operate at the resulting external static pressure before installation.
