The NORDIC PURE 16x16x1PM8C-24 is a MERV 8 pleated air filter with an integrated activated carbon layer, sold in a 24-pack for residential and light commercial HVAC systems. The dual-layer media fuses a MERV-rated filtration material with activated carbon, increasing surface area by approximately 33 percent compared to single-layer designs. This construction reduces flow restriction while simultaneously capturing particulate matter and adsorbing odorous gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The filter media is permanently electrostatically charged, which helps attract and retain airborne particles with each air pass. The antimicrobial treatment inhibits the growth of bacteria and mold within the filter. Nominal size is 16x16x1 with an actual size of 15.75 x 15.75 x 0.75 inches.
This filter is suited for residential forced-air furnaces and central air conditioning systems where both particulate control and odor reduction are priorities. It is particularly well matched to homes with pets, cooking odors, or allergy concerns. The activated carbon layer adsorbs smoke particles, VOCs, and common household odors while the pleated MERV 8 media captures lint, household dust, pollen, dust mites, pet dander, mold spores, and bacteria. Nordic Pure rates this filter as equivalent to an MPR 800 filter. Buying in a 24-pack supports a consistent replacement schedule; Nordic Pure recommends changing the filter every 30 to 90 days depending on household conditions, with more frequent changes during home renovation or high-activity periods.
Designed as a MERV 8 replacement filter for standard 1-inch filter slots in residential and light commercial forced-air furnaces and central AC systems with a nominal 16x16x1 filter opening. Verify fit using the actual size of 15.75 x 15.75 x 0.75 inches before installation, as nominal and actual dimensions differ.
Installation is performed by HVAC technicians or qualified homeowners following system manufacturer guidelines. Power down or set the thermostat to off before removing the existing filter to prevent unfiltered air circulation through the system. Note the airflow direction arrow printed on the filter frame and orient the replacement filter so the arrow points toward the blower. Filters should be inspected regularly and replaced on a schedule appropriate to household conditions.
