The NORDIC PURE 14x20x1PCP-12 is a pure carbon pleated air filter designed to reduce odors and capture airborne particles in residential and light commercial HVAC systems. The filter media combines a non-woven polyester base infused with activated carbon derived from charcoal and coconut shells. This construction allows the filter to absorb odors at the molecular level while also achieving an approximate MERV 8 efficiency rating for particulate capture. Licensed HVAC technicians and knowledgeable DIYers install these filters in forced-air furnace and air conditioning systems where both odor control and particle filtration are priorities.
This filter is suited for residential applications including homes and apartments, as well as light commercial or industrial settings where pre-filtration ahead of high-efficiency HVAC equipment is needed. The pleated design delivers approximately three times the carbon media surface area compared to flat carbon filters, maintaining airflow while increasing odor absorption capacity. Target applications include spaces with pet odors, cooking smells, smoke, bathroom odors, and elevated levels of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from cleaning products or similar sources. Replacement interval is typically every 30 to 90 days depending on environment and odor load.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement carbon pleated filter for standard 14x20x1 nominal filter slots in residential forced-air furnaces and air conditioning systems. Also suitable as a pre-filter in high-efficiency commercial HVAC units requiring odor control.
HVAC technicians and qualified DIYers should shut down the furnace or air handler at the system disconnect or thermostat before replacing the filter. Confirm the actual filter cavity dimensions against the actual size of 13.5 x 19.5 x 0.75 inches before installation, as nominal and actual sizes differ. Observe airflow direction arrows printed on the filter frame and insert accordingly. Replace every 30 to 90 days under normal residential use, or more frequently in high-odor or high-particulate environments.
