The NORDIC PURE 14x18x1PM12C-4 is a MERV 12 pleated plus carbon air filter sold in a 4-pack for residential and light commercial HVAC systems. The filter uses a dual-layer media construction that fuses MERV 12-rated pleated material with an activated carbon layer. This design delivers mechanical filtration for airborne particulates alongside adsorption of odorous gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The result is 33 percent more surface area compared to standard pleated filters, reduced flow restriction, and antimicrobial, electrostatically charged media that acts as a magnet for airborne contaminants. Nominal size is 14x18x1 inches with an actual size of 13.5 x 17.5 x 0.75 inches.
This filter is suited for residential homes, apartments, and light commercial spaces where both particulate control and odor reduction are priorities. Typical applications include forced-air furnaces, central air conditioning systems, and heat pumps with standard 1-inch filter slots. The carbon layer is especially useful in environments with pets, cooking odors, smoke, or VOC sources. Filter service life depends on indoor and outdoor air quality conditions. Nordic Pure recommends replacement every 30 to 90 days for maximum filtration efficiency. The MERV 12 performance rating is comparable to MPR 1500 to 1900 rated filters.
Designed as a direct replacement for standard 1-inch residential and light commercial HVAC filter slots with a nominal opening of 14x18x1 inches. Actual filter dimensions are 13.5 x 17.5 x 0.75 inches. Measure the existing filter or filter housing before ordering to confirm fit, as nominal and actual sizes differ across manufacturers.
Installation is performed by HVAC technicians or qualified homeowners. Power down or set the thermostat to off before removing the existing filter to prevent unfiltered air from circulating through the air handler. Note the airflow direction arrow printed on the filter frame and orient the replacement filter accordingly. Replace every 30 to 90 days, or more frequently in high-dust or high-odor environments, to maintain system efficiency and air quality.
