The NORDIC PURE 14x18x1PCP-2 is a pure carbon pleated air filter designed to capture odors, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and common airborne particulates in residential and light commercial HVAC systems. The filter media is a non-woven polyester base infused with naturally derived charcoal, providing approximately three times the carbon loading compared to standard carbon-coated filters. A metal mesh support grid is bonded to the pleats for structural integrity, and the frame is constructed from moisture-resistant beverage board. The MERV 8 efficiency rating makes it effective against particles such as pollen, pet dander, and dust mites while maintaining adequate airflow for most forced-air systems.
This filter is suited for residential installations in homes and apartments where pet odors, cooking smells, smoke, or VOCs from cleaning products are a concern. It also functions as a pre-filter stage in higher-efficiency commercial HVAC units where odor control upstream of the primary filter is required. The 2-pack configuration supports a standard replacement interval of 30 to 90 days per filter. The nominal size is 14x18x1; the actual size is 13.5 x 17.5 x 0.75 inches. Verify the actual opening dimensions before ordering, as nominal and actual filter sizes differ across equipment brands.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement pleated carbon filter for residential forced-air furnaces, air handlers, and central air conditioning systems accepting a 14x18x1 nominal filter. Actual installed size is 13.5 x 17.5 x 0.75 inches. Also suitable as a pre-filter in light commercial HVAC units requiring odor control upstream of a primary high-efficiency filter.
HVAC filters of this type are installed by HVAC technicians or qualified building maintenance personnel following equipment manufacturer guidelines. Power down or set the thermostat to OFF before removing the existing filter to prevent unfiltered air from bypassing the filter rack during changeout. Confirm airflow direction arrow on the filter frame aligns with the direction of airflow toward the blower before securing. Replace every 30 to 90 days, or more frequently in high-odor or high-particulate environments.
