The NORDIC PURE 12x20x1PM8C-2 is a pleated MERV 8 furnace and air handler filter with an integrated activated carbon layer, sold in a 2-pack. The dual-material construction fuses a MERV 8-rated electrostatic filtration layer with an activated carbon layer, reducing flow restriction while adding 33% more surface area compared to a single-layer design. The MERV 8 media captures large airborne particulates including lint, household dust, pollen, dust mites, mold spores, and pet dander. The activated carbon layer adsorbs odorous gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), making it well-suited for residential spaces where odor control is a priority alongside standard particulate filtration. Licensed HVAC technicians and knowledgeable homeowners install this filter in standard forced-air heating and cooling systems.
This filter is designed for residential forced-air furnaces, air handlers, and central air conditioning systems with a 12x20x1 nominal filter slot. It is an appropriate choice for households with pets, cooking odors, or light smoke concerns, where a standard MERV 8 filter alone does not provide sufficient odor mitigation. The actual filter dimensions are 11.5 inches by 19.5 inches by 0.75 inches, which is typical of nominal 12x20x1 filter slots - measuring the existing filter or slot before installation is recommended to confirm fit. The MERV 8 rating is equivalent to the MPR 800 rating used by some other filter manufacturers. Filter replacement every 30 to 90 days is recommended to maintain airflow and filtration efficiency, with more frequent changes advised during home renovation or high-use periods.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for residential forced-air furnace and air handler systems using a nominal 12x20x1 filter size. Actual dimensions are 11.5 inches by 19.5 inches by 0.75 inches - verify slot dimensions before installation.
Always shut off the furnace or air handler at the system disconnect or thermostat before replacing the filter. Confirm airflow direction by matching the arrow printed on the filter frame to the direction of airflow toward the blower. Discard the used filter in a sealed bag to contain captured particulates. Follow local building codes and equipment manufacturer guidelines for filter replacement intervals.
