The NORDIC PURE 12x18x1PM8C-2 is a MERV 8 pleated plus carbon air filter sold in a 2-pack for residential and light commercial HVAC systems. The filter combines a MERV 8 electrostatic pleated media layer fused with an activated carbon layer. The dual-material construction reduces flow restriction while delivering 33% more surface area compared to standard single-layer designs. The activated carbon component attracts and holds odorous gases, vapors, and VOCs, while the pleated media captures airborne particulates. A licensed HVAC technician or knowledgeable homeowner can install this filter as a routine maintenance replacement in any standard forced-air furnace or air handler.
This filter fits systems requiring a nominal 12x18x1 filter slot, with an actual size of 11.5 x 17.5 x 0.75 inches. It is well suited for residential environments where odor control is a priority alongside particle filtration - including homes with pets, cooking odors, or sensitivity to airborne allergens. The antimicrobial, hypoallergenic filter media resists bacterial and mold growth. NORDIC PURE rates this filter as equivalent to an MPR 800 filter. Replacement is recommended every 30 to 90 days depending on indoor and outdoor conditions, with more frequent changes advised during home renovation activity.
Designed as a direct replacement for any forced-air furnace, air handler, or HVAC system requiring a nominal 12x18x1 filter. Always verify the actual opening dimensions against the actual filter size of 11.5 x 17.5 x 0.75 inches before installation, as nominal and actual sizes differ across equipment manufacturers.
Power down or set the thermostat to the off position before removing the existing filter to prevent unfiltered air from circulating during the swap. Note the airflow direction arrow printed on the filter frame and align it with the direction of airflow toward the blower. No tools are required for standard filter replacement. Filters should be inspected regularly and replaced every 30 to 90 days to maintain system efficiency and indoor air quality.
