The NORDIC PURE 12x16x1PM8C-4 is a MERV 8 pleated air filter with an integrated activated carbon layer, sold in a 4-pack. The dual-material construction fuses a MERV 8-rated filtration medium with a carbon layer, reducing flow restriction while increasing surface area by 33 percent. This design allows the filter to capture airborne particulates while simultaneously adsorbing odorous gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The filter media is permanently electrostatically charged, acting as a magnet to attract and hold dust and fine particles. Installed in residential or light-commercial HVAC systems, this filter is suitable for HVAC technicians, plumbers servicing hydronic air handlers, and knowledgeable homeowners performing routine filter maintenance.
This filter is designed for forced-air furnace and air conditioning systems requiring a nominal 12x16x1 filter slot. The actual dimensions are 11.5 x 15.5 x 0.75 inches, which is standard for this nominal size class. It is well suited for homes or offices where odor control is a priority, such as households with pets or cooking odors. The antimicrobial filter media inhibits the growth of bacteria and mold within the filter itself. Each pack contains 4 filters, supporting a regular replacement schedule of every 30 to 90 days depending on environmental conditions and usage. NORDIC PURE rates this filter as equivalent to an MPR 800 filter.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for residential and light-commercial forced-air furnace and air conditioning systems requiring a nominal 12x16x1 filter. Verify fit against the actual size of 11.5 x 15.5 x 0.75 inches before installation, as nominal and actual filter dimensions commonly differ across HVAC equipment.
Filter replacement is a routine maintenance task performed by HVAC technicians or qualified homeowners. Always set the thermostat to the off position and confirm the air handler fan has stopped before removing the existing filter. Note the airflow direction arrow printed on the filter frame and install the replacement with the arrow pointing toward the blower. Replace every 30 to 90 days, or more frequently during renovation activity or periods of high particulate exposure.
