The NORDIC PURE 10x20x1PCP-6 is a pure carbon pleated air filter sold in a six-pack, designed for residential and light commercial HVAC systems. Rated at approximately MERV 8, it captures large airborne particles while its activated carbon media absorbs odors and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) at a molecular level. The filter uses a non-woven polyester base media infused with naturally derived charcoal and coconut shell carbon. A heavy-duty, moisture-resistant beverage board frame with a metal mesh support grid holds the pleats firmly in place. Licensed HVAC technicians and property maintenance crews install these as drop-in replacements or as pre-filters ahead of high-efficiency units.
This filter is suited for residential applications including single-family homes and apartments where pet odors, cooking smells, smoke, bathroom odors, and VOCs from cleaning products are concerns. The pleated construction delivers three times the carbon media surface area compared to flat-panel carbon filters, improving odor absorption without sacrificing airflow. It can also serve as a pre-filter in commercial HVAC systems where odor control is a priority alongside particulate capture. Nordic Pure recommends replacing this filter every 30 to 90 days depending on the environment and odor load.
Designed as a drop-in replacement for standard 10x20x1 nominal-size filter slots in residential furnaces, air handlers, and AC systems. Actual dimensions are 9.5 inches by 19.5 inches by 0.75 inches. Verify the actual slot dimensions before installation, as nominal and actual sizes differ across equipment. Can also be used as a pre-filter in high-efficiency commercial HVAC units.
Installation is performed by licensed HVAC technicians or qualified maintenance personnel. Power down the furnace or air handler at the disconnect or thermostat before removing the old filter. Confirm airflow direction and align the filter arrow on the frame with the direction of airflow toward the blower. Replace every 30 to 90 days, or more frequently during construction, renovation, or high-odor conditions.
