The NORDIC PURE 10x10x1PCP-2 is a pleated activated carbon air filter rated at MERV 8, sold in a two-pack for residential and light commercial HVAC applications. The filter media is a non-woven polyester base infused with naturally derived charcoal that captures airborne particles while simultaneously neutralizing odors and reducing Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). The nominal size is 10x10x1 inches with an actual size of 9.5 x 9.5 x 0.75 inches. A heavy-duty, moisture-resistant beverage board frame and a metal mesh support grid bonded to the pleats keep the filter structurally sound under normal airflow conditions. Licensed HVAC technicians and knowledgeable homeowners typically handle installation.
These filters are suited for residential homes and apartments where pet odors, smoke, cooking smells, garbage, and bathroom odors require active carbon control. They also work as pre-filters in higher-efficiency commercial HVAC units to reduce odor load before air reaches downstream filtration stages. The pleated carbon design delivers approximately three times the carbon media surface area compared to flat carbon filters, improving odor and VOC absorption without significantly restricting airflow. Nordic Pure recommends replacing these filters every 30 to 90 days depending on odor levels and usage conditions, and more frequently during home renovation projects that introduce dust and chemical fumes.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 10x10x1 nominal filter slots in residential furnaces, central air handlers, and compatible commercial HVAC pre-filter applications. Actual dimensions are 9.5 x 9.5 x 0.75 inches. Always verify the actual slot measurement before installation.
Power down the furnace or air handler at the disconnect or thermostat before removing the old filter. Confirm airflow direction and align the printed arrow on the filter frame with the direction of airflow toward the blower. Slide the filter fully into the track to ensure no bypass gaps around the frame. Replace every 30 to 90 days or more frequently in high-odor or high-dust environments.
