The NOMACO PEBFRED1141 is a butt fusion reducer fitting designed to transition between two pipe sizes in a polyethylene piping system. It connects a 1.25-inch pipe to a 1-inch pipe using a heat-fusion joining method that produces a leak-free, monolithic joint with no mechanical fasteners. Butt fusion fittings are standard in geothermal, irrigation, and industrial fluid-handling systems where permanent, corrosion-resistant connections are required. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting using a butt fusion machine matched to the pipe specifications.
This reducer is suited for residential and light commercial polyethylene piping applications where a size transition is needed in a continuous fused loop or run. Typical installations include geothermal ground loops, municipal water service laterals, and agricultural or industrial fluid-distribution systems. The butt fusion joint eliminates gasketed or threaded connections at the transition point, reducing potential leak paths in buried or concealed piping runs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for polyethylene piping systems requiring a 1.25-inch to 1-inch butt fusion reducer transition.
Installation requires a qualified pipefitter or plumber using a properly sized butt fusion machine with facing and heating tools appropriate for 1.25-inch and 1-inch polyethylene pipe. Depressurize and drain the piping system fully before cutting into an existing line. Follow ASTM F2620 or the fitting and pipe manufacturer fusion procedures for heat temperature, heating time, and cooling time. Do not stress or disturb the joint until the fusion cycle, including cooling, is complete.
