The NOMACO BST11812 is a pre-slit, lap-seal rubber pipe insulation section designed to reduce heat gain and condensation on cold-water and refrigerant piping. The tube features a 1-1/8 inch inner diameter and a 1/2 inch wall thickness, providing a snug fit over standard nominal pipe and tubing sizes. Each section measures 6 feet in length with a factory-applied lap-seal adhesive flap that closes the split seam without separate glue or tape. Plumbers, HVAC technicians, and mechanical insulation contractors install this product on chilled-water lines, domestic cold-water piping, and refrigerant suction lines to control surface sweating and limit energy loss.
The BST11812 is suited for residential and light commercial mechanical systems where flexible, closed-cell rubber insulation is specified. Typical applications include copper and plastic cold-water supply lines, HVAC chilled-water distribution piping, and refrigerant suction lines where condensation control is the primary concern. The split construction allows installation over existing piping without disassembling fittings or pulling new line sets, making it well-suited for retrofit and service work as well as new construction rough-in.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation insulation sleeve for residential and commercial cold-water, chilled-water, and refrigerant suction piping with a 1-1/8 inch outer diameter.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber, HVAC technician, or mechanical insulation contractor. Shut off and drain the line, or verify the pipe surface is dry and free of frost, oils, and debris before applying the insulation to ensure the lap-seal adhesive bonds correctly. Open the split seam, wrap the insulation around the pipe, and press the lap-seal flap firmly along the full length of the section. Butt joints between sections and all fittings should be sealed with compatible closed-cell rubber insulation adhesive or tape to maintain a continuous vapor barrier.
