The NOMACO BST03412 is a pre-split, lap-seal rubber pipe insulation section designed to reduce heat gain and condensation on cold-water and chilled-water piping systems. Sized with a 3/4 inch inner diameter and a nominal 1/2 inch wall thickness, each section runs 6 feet in length. The lap-seal design eliminates the need for a separate adhesive along the lengthwise seam during installation, speeding up fieldwork on mechanical insulation runs. Plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical insulation contractors working on HVAC and plumbing systems rely on flexible closed-cell rubber insulation like this to maintain thermal efficiency and prevent surface condensation.
This insulation section is suited for residential and light commercial applications involving copper, steel, or plastic pipe with a 3/4 inch nominal outside diameter. Common install locations include chilled-water supply and return lines, domestic cold-water lines, refrigerant suction lines in split systems, and similar low-temperature piping where moisture control is critical. The 6-foot section length works well for straight runs between fittings and supports efficient coverage in mechanical rooms, crawl spaces, and wall chases.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit insulation section for 3/4 inch nominal pipe in residential and light commercial HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration piping applications.
Mechanical insulation work on refrigerant or chilled-water lines should be performed by a qualified HVAC technician or licensed pipefitter following applicable mechanical codes. Shut off and isolate the piping system and allow lines to reach ambient temperature before applying insulation to ensure proper adhesion at the lap-seal seam. Press the lap-seal flap firmly along the full length of the seam and inspect for gaps at butt joints between sections. Do not stretch the insulation during installation, as this can reduce effective wall thickness and compromise thermal performance.
