The NOGA MG61003 is an articulated-arm indicator positioner holder designed to hold dial indicators, test indicators, and similar gauging instruments in a fixed position during measurement tasks. The unit features a 175 lb magnetic pull rectangular base that locks firmly to ferrous machine surfaces, eliminating drift during inspection or setup work. A zinc cast fine adjustment mechanism allows the technician to dial in exact indicator position without repositioning the entire arm. The MG61003 ships with the base included and is used by machinists, toolmakers, and quality-control personnel in machine shops, manufacturing cells, and metrology environments.
The MG61003 is suited for workholding and indicator positioning on milling machines, surface plates, lathes, and machining centers where a stable, repeatable indicator mount is required. The articulated arm spans 317 mm (approximately 12.5 inches) in total arm length, with an overall assembly length of 10.5 inches. Clamping diameter accepts 3/8-inch shanks with a 6 mm and 8 mm collet range, and the M8 thread interface provides compatibility with standard accessory adapters. Typical applications include runout checks, bore alignment, surface comparison, and fixture setup verification.
The MG61003 includes the following components as specified by the manufacturer: M8/M8 Adapter AD8080, MG Arms MG60003, On/Off Magnet DG0036, Spare Knob MG1620, and Zinc Cast Fine Adjustment FA1500. Designed as an OEM-style indicator positioner holder compatible with standard 3/8-inch and M8 indicator shank configurations.
Installation is performed by machinists or quality technicians without specialized trade licensing. Before mounting, verify the target surface is clean, flat, and free of chips or coolant that could reduce magnetic contact force. Use the on/off magnet switch to engage and disengage the base rather than sliding the energized base across precision surfaces. Confirm all articulated arm joints and the fine adjustment knob are tightened before taking measurements to prevent indicator drift.
