The NIKCOLE MINI-SYSTEMS THE-7-1/2RH.500 is a right-hand indexable grooving and cutoff toolholder from the Mini-Systems series. Designed for external operations, it accepts GIE series inserts secured by a screw-clamp holding method, providing repeatable insert indexing without disturbing the setup. The shank measures 0.5 x 0.5 inches square with an overall length of 4.5 inches. This toolholder is intended for machinists and CNC lathe operators performing cut-off and grooving operations on production or job-shop turning equipment.
This toolholder is suited for external cut-off and grooving applications on CNC and manual lathes. The right-hand orientation positions the cutting edge for standard spindle-forward turning operations. The Mini-Systems series is recognized in production machining environments where compact, reliable tooling with consistent insert seating is required. Full-radius inserts are not used with this holder; flat-bottom or shaped GIE profile inserts are the appropriate selection for this application.
Compatible inserts include GIE 7 GP, GIE 7 GR, GIE 7 GW, GIE 7 SC, GIE 7 SG, and GIE 7 ST. This toolholder is designed as an OEM-style fit for external grooving and cut-off setups on lathes accepting a 0.5 x 0.5 inch square shank toolholder.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Power down and lock out the lathe spindle before changing or indexing inserts. Mount the toolholder securely in the turret or toolpost, ensuring the shank is fully seated and clamping bolts are tightened per the machine manufacturer's torque guidance. Verify insert seating and screw engagement before resuming cutting operations.
