The NIKCOLE MINI-SYSTEMS SET - 5 is an indexable grooving and cutoff toolholder designed for precision turning applications on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built on a 0.5 inch square shank, it accommodates groove widths ranging from 0.035 inches to 0.073 inches and uses a screw-type insert holding method for secure, repeatable insert positioning. This right-hand toolholder is part of the Mini-Systems series and ships with five inserts included, making it a ready-to-run solution for shops tackling cutoff and grooving work on small-diameter workpieces.
The SET - 5 is suited for production and job-shop environments where consistent groove geometry and reliable cutoff performance are required. The Mini-Systems series targets applications involving narrow grooves and small-profile cutoff work, typical in medical, aerospace, and general machining contexts. The toolholder style is THE-7-1/2 R-L, and its compact 0.5 inch by 0.5 inch shank fits standard tool blocks and quick-change toolposts commonly found on smaller engine lathes and turning centers. Machinists working with tight tolerances on small parts will find the screw-clamping method provides the rigidity needed for repeatable results.
Designed for use with compatible Mini-Systems series inserts suited to the THE-7-1/2 R-L toolholder style. Fits standard 0.5 inch square shank tool blocks and quick-change toolpost systems on CNC and manual lathes configured for right-hand turning.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard turning center lockout and toolpost procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolpost is de-energized before inserting or indexing toolholder assemblies. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the tool block before tightening to avoid overhang-induced chatter. Follow insert manufacturer recommendations for speeds and feeds appropriate to the workpiece material and groove depth.
