The NIKCOLE MINI-SYSTEMS GIE7SG1.85 R C2 is a solid carbide grooving insert engineered for precise external grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. With a cutting width of 1.85 mm (0.0728 inches) and a maximum depth of cut of 6.00 mm (0.2362 inches), this insert delivers repeatable groove geometry in demanding production environments. The C2 carbide grade provides the hardness and wear resistance required for ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The SG chip breaker geometry controls chip flow during grooving, reducing the risk of chip packing. Installation is via screw-clamp holding, ensuring consistent seating and quick indexing. Machinists and CNC operators in metalworking and precision machining shops are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is designed for use in the Nikcole Mini-Systems GIE series tooling system, which is commonly deployed in high-precision turning applications where tight groove tolerances are required. The right-hand cutting orientation suits standard left-to-right feed operations on most turning configurations. The insert fits applications requiring maximum depth of cut in the range of 5.00 mm to 10.00 mm, making it suitable for a broad range of groove depth requirements in both production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in the Nikcole Mini-Systems GIE series grooving toolholders. Compatible with tooling configured for the GIE-7-SG-1.85 R insert style. Consult Nikcole Mini-Systems toolholder documentation to confirm specific pocket and clamping screw compatibility before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the clamping screw to the recommended seating torque per the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Follow facility safety protocols and applicable ANSI machining safety standards during all tooling changes.
