The NIKCOLE MINI-SYSTEMS GIE7SG1.6R C6 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external and internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This right-hand insert features a 1.6 mm (0.0630 inch) cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 6.00 mm (0.2362 inch), making it well suited for narrow groove applications where tight tolerances are required. The C6 carbide grade provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for consistent performance in production turning environments. The SG chip breaker geometry promotes reliable chip control during grooving passes. Installed by machinists and CNC operators, this insert is a direct screw-held replacement in compatible Nikcole Mini-Systems toolholders.
This insert is intended for use in metalworking and machining applications where precise, repeatable grooving cuts are required. It fits within the Nikcole Mini-Systems series tooling platform, which targets small-to-medium grooving and parting operations on lathes. The right-hand orientation suits standard spindle-forward turning setups. Typical applications include groove forming for snap ring grooves, undercuts, and similar features on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The screw-held mounting method ensures secure seating in compatible toolholders during high-speed passes.
Designed for use with Nikcole Mini-Systems series grooving toolholders that accept GIE-style screw-held inserts. Verify toolholder seat dimensions and insert size code 7SG16 compatibility before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before changing inserts, ensure the machine is powered down and spindle rotation is fully stopped. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified screw torque when seating the insert clamp screw - do not overtighten, as this can damage the insert seat. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and alignment.
