The NIKCOLE MINI-SYSTEMS GIE7SG1.1LGOLD is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external and internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This left-hand insert features a 1.1 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 6.00 mm, making it well suited for narrow groove applications where dimensional accuracy is critical. The GIE insert style uses screw-holding retention for secure seating in compatible toolholders. Applied via a PVD process, the TiN coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance, extending tool life in a range of workpiece materials. Machinists and tooling technicians working in production turning environments are the primary users.
This insert is used in turning and grooving applications on CNC lathes where controlled groove width and depth are required. The SG chip breaker geometry is intended for applications that demand reliable chip control during grooving passes. With a cutting height of 7.00 mm and an overall length of 17.00 mm, this insert fits within the Nikcole Mini-Systems toolholder series. It is appropriate for shops machining ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a C6 material grade carbide with TiN finish provides the right balance of hardness and toughness. This insert is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces per order.
Designed for use with Nikcole Mini-Systems GIE series toolholders that accept the 7SG insert size code in a left-hand configuration. Verify toolholder seat geometry and screw-clamp compatibility before installation.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with CNC turning toolholder systems. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw - do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excess clamp force. Confirm insert seating and edge condition before resuming cutting operations.
