The NIKCOLE MINI-SYSTEMS GIE7GW55RC2 is a carbide threading insert from the Mini System series, designed for precision thread cutting on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built to GIE style geometry with a C2 carbide grade, this insert handles both internal and external threading operations in a single tool setup. The included angle measures 55 degrees, making it suited for Whitworth and BSP thread profiles. The corner radius ranges from 0.0040 to 0.0050 decimal inch, and insert thickness is 0.0780 inch. Right-hand cutting orientation is standard. Machinists and tooling technicians working in production or job-shop environments rely on inserts like this for repeatable, accurate thread form.
This insert is intended for threading applications on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces where a 55-degree included angle thread form is specified. Typical use cases include pipe threading, BSP fittings, and Whitworth-profile components in industrial, fluid-handling, and mechanical assembly applications. The GIE style geometry and C2 grade carbide are suited to general-purpose threading at moderate speeds and feeds. Both internal and external thread types are supported, allowing use across a range of workholding and toolholder configurations compatible with Mini System tooling.
Designed for use with NIKCOLE Mini System series threading toolholders that accept GIE style inserts. Verify toolholder seat geometry and clamping style before ordering.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and locked out before insert changes. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and verify clamping torque per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the insert seating surface and pocket for chips or debris before mounting to ensure accurate thread form. Replace the insert at the first sign of chipping, built-up edge, or thread-form deviation.
