The NIKCOLE MINI-SYSTEMS GIE7GR1.5 R C2 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 1.5 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 6.00 mm, making it well suited for tight-tolerance groove profiles. The C2 carbide grade delivers consistent hardness and wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. A full radius geometry with a 0.75 mm corner radius and GR chip breaker pattern supports controlled chip evacuation during interrupted and continuous cuts. This insert is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in production and job-shop turning environments.
This insert is intended for use in turning applications requiring precise groove dimensions, including undercuts, snap-ring grooves, and profile grooves on shafts and cylindrical workpieces. It is a right-hand configuration, meaning it is suited for standard left-to-right feed direction operations. The GIE insert style seats into compatible NIKCOLE Mini-Systems toolholders using a screw clamping method, providing rigid, repeatable positioning. It is applicable in both light production runs and high-volume turning operations where dimensional consistency is critical.
Designed for use with compatible NIKCOLE Mini-Systems GIE-style screw-clamp toolholders. Verify toolholder bore and insert seat dimensions before installation to confirm fitment.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw - do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and rigidity.
