The NIKCOLE MINI-SYSTEMS GIE7GR1.0LGOLD is a solid carbide grooving insert engineered for precision external and internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Designed in the GIE insert style with a GR chip breaker, this left-hand insert delivers a 1.00 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 6.00 mm, making it well-suited for tight-tolerance groove profiles. The insert features a TiN coating applied via PVD process, which extends tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous applications. Material grade C6 solid carbide provides the hardness and wear resistance required for production-rate turning environments. Installation is via screw-holding method for secure seating in compatible GIE-series toolholders.
This insert is used in CNC turning and grooving operations where consistent groove width and depth are required across high-volume production runs. The full-radius geometry with a 0.50 mm corner radius produces a clean, burr-minimized groove profile. Typical applications include groove cutting on shafts, hydraulic fittings, snap-ring grooves, and similar turned components in aerospace, automotive, and general machining environments. The left-hand orientation is specified for operations where tool approach direction or spindle rotation requires a left-hand cut. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production facilities are the primary users of this insert.
Designed for use in GIE-series screw-clamp grooving toolholders from the Nikcole Mini-Systems product line. Consult toolholder documentation to confirm insert size code 7GR10 and left-hand orientation are compatible with the intended holder before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state per applicable safety procedures. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque, and inspect the insert for chipping or wear at regular intervals during production use.
