The NIKCOLE MINI-SYSTEMS GIE7GR1.0L C6 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This left-hand insert features a 1.00 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 6.00 mm, making it well suited for narrow groove profiles where tight dimensional control is required. The C6 carbide grade provides the wear resistance and edge toughness needed for consistent performance in steel, cast iron, and similar workpiece materials. Screw-clamping secures the insert in the toolholder, and the full-radius geometry with a 0.50 mm corner radius produces a clean, burr-minimized groove floor. Machining professionals and toolroom technicians are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is intended for use in external grooving applications on manual and CNC turning equipment. The GIE insert style and Nikcole Mini-Systems series toolholders define the compatible tool platform. The GR chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation at the narrow cutting widths typical of precision grooving work in production and job-shop environments. Its left-hand orientation determines correct toolholder pairing and approach direction on the lathe.
Designed for use with GIE-series toolholders in the Nikcole Mini-Systems platform that accept the 7GR insert size code and are configured for left-hand cutting orientation.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine fully stopped and energy isolated per lockout/tagout procedures. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw - do not overtighten by hand estimation alone; follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque guidance. Confirm left-hand orientation matches the toolholder pocket before securing the insert. Inspect the insert seat and clamping screw for debris or wear before each insert change.
