The NIKCOLE MINI-SYSTEMS GIE7GP2.0R L C5 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert designed for precision parting and groove operations on metal lathes and turning centers. It features a 2 mm (0.0787 inch) cutting width with a 7-degree left-hand lead angle and right-hand insert orientation. The C5 material grade carbide substrate receives a PVD coating for improved wear resistance and edge life on steel workpieces. With the GP chipbreaker geometry, this insert handles both cut-off and grooving applications in a single multi-use platform. It is sized and configured for use in the GIE series Nikcole Mini-Systems toolholder family and is installed by machinists and CNC lathe operators in production turning environments.
This insert is suited for cut-off and grooving operations on steel workpieces in both manual and CNC turning applications. The left-hand lead angle and right-hand hand designation make it appropriate for specific toolholder orientations where directional chip control and surface finish consistency are required. Its compact overall length of 17 mm (0.6693 inch) and cutting height of 7 mm (0.2750 inch) fit toolholders designed for tight clearance work. Maximum depth of cut reaches 6 mm (0.2362 inch), making it capable of parting moderate-diameter stock as well as shallow and medium-depth grooving passes.
Designed for use in GIE series Nikcole Mini-Systems toolholders. Compatible toolholder reference from manufacturer: GIE-7-GP-2.0 R-L. Verify toolholder pocket style, hand, and insert size code before ordering. Minimum order quantity is 10 inserts.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the correct torque wrench and insert clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not over-torque the clamping screw, as carbide inserts are brittle and will fracture under excessive clamping force. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear, chips, or debris before seating the insert. Confirm insert hand and lead angle direction match the toolholder designation before running any cutting operation.
