The NIKCOLE MINI-SYSTEMS GIE7GP1.ORLGOLD is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a 1 mm (0.0394 inch) cutting width, a 7-degree left-hand lead angle, and a right-hand insert orientation. The GP chipbreaker geometry is optimized for chip control across a range of workpiece materials. A PVD coating over the C6 carbide grade improves wear resistance and extends tool life in both dry and light-coolant cutting environments. Machinists and toolroom technicians install this insert into compatible GIE-series mini toolholders for cutoff and shallow grooving work.
This insert is suited for small-diameter cutoff and grooving applications where tight tolerances and clean parting surfaces are required. The 1 mm cutting width and 6 mm maximum depth of cut make it well-matched to Swiss-type turning, screw machine work, and precision component production. The left-hand lead angle and right-hand insert hand designation determine directional chip flow and must be matched to the correct toolholder orientation. It is used in production and job-shop turning environments by machinists working with bar stock and small turned parts.
Designed for use with GIE-series Nikcole Mini-Systems toolholders. The right-hand insert hand and left-hand lead angle must match the corresponding holder designation. Verify holder series and insert seat geometry before installation.
Installation of indexable carbide inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a powered-down, locked-out state. Use the correct torque wrench and insert clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not overtighten or use improvised tools on the clamping screw. Confirm insert orientation, lead angle direction, and chipbreaker side before seating the insert in the pocket. Inspect the insert seat for debris or damage before each index to maintain cutting accuracy and prevent insert breakage.
