The NIKCOLE MINI-SYSTEMS GIE7 SG0.5LGOLD is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external and internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to GIE style geometry with an SG chip breaker, this insert features a 0.5 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 2.54 mm, making it well-suited for fine grooving applications where tight tolerances are required. The TiN coating is applied via PVD process, improving surface hardness and wear resistance. The insert is left-hand orientation and is secured by screw clamping. Material grade C6 solid carbide provides the hardness and thermal stability demanded by high-speed metal cutting environments. Machining professionals and toolroom technicians select this insert for production grooving work requiring consistent, repeatable results.
This insert is used in CNC turning and grooving applications across general metalworking, precision machining, and production environments. It is appropriate for grooving operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a 0.5 mm cutting width and controlled chip formation are critical. The SG chip breaker geometry assists in managing chip flow in tightly toleranced grooves. The left-hand configuration suits specific toolholder orientations common in gang-tooling and turret lathe setups. Installation is performed by machinists and CNC toolroom technicians working with Nikcole Mini-Systems compatible toolholders.
Designed for use with Nikcole Mini-Systems GIE-series toolholders that accept screw-clamped grooving inserts in left-hand orientation with GIE style geometry.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw - do not overtighten. Verify insert seating and orientation before resuming cutting operations.
