The NIKCOLE MINI-SYSTEMS GIE7 GR2.0R C2 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This right-hand insert carries a C2 carbide grade and features a 2.00 mm cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 6.00 mm, making it well suited for fine-pitch grooving work where dimensional accuracy and edge stability are critical. The full-radius geometry with a 1.00 mm corner radius promotes smooth chip flow and consistent surface finish. It is installed via screw-clamping into a compatible GIE-series toolholder and is intended for use by machinists and tooling specialists in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is applied in external grooving, recessing, and parting applications on turned components. The GR chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip formation during grooving passes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 7-degree lead angle and 17.00 mm overall length are matched to GIE-series mini-system toolholders, making this insert a standard fit for applications where compact tooling clearance and repeatable insert indexing are required. It is used in both high-production turning cells and manual turret lathes where consistent groove geometry is needed across high part volumes.
Designed for use with GIE-series screw-clamp grooving toolholders in the Nikcole Mini-Systems product family. Compatible toolholder and insert relationships are defined by the GIE-7-GR-2.0 R style designation. Verify toolholder bore and clamping slot dimensions before installation.
Installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all axis motion is locked before changing or indexing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torque driver for the clamping screw to avoid seat damage or insert cracking. Confirm insert seating and clamping screw engagement before resuming cutting operations.
