The NIKCOLE MINI-SYSTEMS GIE 7GR2.0R C6 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 2.00 mm cutting width (0.0787 inches) and a maximum depth of cut of 6.00 mm (0.2362 inches), making it well-suited for precise, narrow-groove applications where dimensional accuracy is critical. The C6 carbide grade delivers hardness and wear resistance appropriate for grooving ferrous and non-ferrous materials. A full-radius corner profile (1.00 mm corner radius) and the GR chip breaker geometry work together to control chip flow and reduce cutting forces. This insert is intended for installation by machinists and CNC tooling technicians.
This insert is used in external grooving, parting, and profiling operations on turning machines in production machining environments. Its right-hand cutting orientation suits standard lathe setups where the tool approaches from the right. The 7-degree lead angle and GR chip breaker make it effective for grooving applications requiring controlled chip evacuation in medium-depth cuts. It is part of the Nikcole Mini-Systems series, which targets precision grooving and threading tooling for production and job-shop turning operations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for Nikcole Mini-Systems GIE series grooving toolholders that accept GIE-style inserts with a 7GR insert size code and 2.00 mm cutting width in right-hand orientation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before replacing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified seating procedure; avoid over-torquing, which can crack the carbide. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before installing a new insert. Verify cutting orientation and lead angle match the programmed toolpath before resuming machine operation.
