The NICHOLSON 11781 is a 6-inch American-pattern round file designed for deburring, smoothing, and shaping metal, wood, and plastic surfaces. It features a single-cut tooth pattern with a smooth cut coarseness grade, making it well-suited for finish work and fine material removal where controlled cutting action is required. The file has a tang end for use with a standard file handle. At 0.25 inches in diameter, it fits tight slots, holes, and curved profiles that flat or half-round files cannot reach. Licensed trades and general fabricators alike keep this style in regular rotation for light shaping and surface prep tasks.
This file is used across a range of trade applications including HVAC sheet metal work, plumbing pipe deburring, electrical conduit preparation, and general mechanical fabrication. The round profile and smooth cut grade make it a practical choice for enlarging or cleaning up drilled holes, smoothing weld beads, and refining cast or machined edges. It is compact enough to carry in a tool pouch for field service work.
Designed as a standard American-pattern round file compatible with any conventional file handle sized for a tang-mount connection.
File handles are not included and should be fitted to the tang before use to prevent hand injury from an exposed tang. Always file with forward strokes and lift the file on the return to preserve tooth life. Wear appropriate eye protection when filing metal to guard against flying chips. Inspect the file for cracks or missing teeth before each use and replace if damaged.
