The NIBCO PRESREDFTGC3412 is a copper reducing fitting designed to connect a 3/4-inch FTG (fitting) end to a 1/2-inch press connection. It allows a plumber to step down pipe size within a press-fit system without soldering or open flame. The FTG end accepts standard copper pipe as a socket-style fitting-to-fitting connection, while the press end uses a press tool and included or field-supplied press ring to create a watertight mechanical joint. This reducer is suited for potable water, hydronic, and general plumbing distribution systems where press-fit technology is specified.
This fitting is used in residential and light commercial plumbing installations where reducing from 3/4-inch to 1/2-inch copper is required. Common applications include branch takeoffs from a main distribution line, fixture supply connections, and system retrofits where press-fit speed and no-flame work are required. It is installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on copper press systems in new construction or remodel projects.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit component for copper press-fit plumbing systems requiring a 3/4-inch FTG to 1/2-inch press reducing connection.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber using a compatible press tool and jaw set sized for the 1/2-inch press end. Shut off and depressurize the water supply before cutting into any existing line. The FTG end is joined using standard copper soldering practice or fitted over a copper fitting hub as designed. Follow local plumbing codes and ASTM standards for copper press systems when selecting press rings and verifying joint completion.
