The NIBCO PRESREDFTGC234 is a copper reducing fitting designed to transition from a 2-inch pipe to a 3/4-inch pipe using a FTG (fitting-to-fitting) inlet and a press outlet connection. This concentric reducer installs without open flame, making it well-suited for copper supply systems where torch work is restricted or impractical. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters use this fitting in domestic water distribution, hydronic heating loops, and commercial plumbing systems where downsizing of flow lines is required. The press-end connection locks with a press tool and jaw set rated for copper press fittings, delivering a consistent, leak-tested joint.
This reducer fits into copper piping systems where a branch or main line steps down from 2 inches to 3/4 inches. Typical applications include residential and light commercial water distribution headers, manifold take-offs, and mechanical room piping assemblies. The FTG end slides over existing copper pipe or fitting hubs, allowing direct in-line connection without additional couplings. It is appropriate for potable water, hydronic, and HVAC chilled or hot water piping systems within the pressure and temperature ratings of standard copper press systems.
Designed as an OEM-style copper press reducer for use in standard copper press fitting systems requiring a 2-inch FTG inlet and a 3/4-inch press outlet connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with IPC and local plumbing codes. Shut off and depressurize the water system completely before cutting into the line and installing this fitting. Use a press tool and the correct jaw size rated for copper press connections on both the FTG and press ends. Inspect the fitting seals and press connections after pressurizing the system to verify no leaks are present before returning the system to service.
