The NIBCO INC W01190D is a lead-free copper male adapter designed to transition a solder (sweat) connection to a male NPT threaded connection. The fitting features a 3/8-inch solder cup end and a 1/2-inch male NPT thread, allowing a copper tubing run to terminate at a threaded fitting or valve. Conforming to the C604 pattern, this adapter is a standard component in potable water, hydronic, and general plumbing systems. Installation is performed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters. The lead-free construction satisfies requirements for use in drinking water applications under applicable safe drinking water regulations.
This adapter is used wherever a copper sweat line must connect to a threaded port — common applications include connecting copper supply lines to threaded valves, fixtures, water heaters, and mechanical equipment. The 3/8-inch by 1/2-inch size is typical in residential and light commercial domestic water supply and hydronic distribution piping where a size transition is also needed at the threaded joint. It is sold in packages of 25 units, making it practical for contractors stocking job-site supplies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting for copper sweat-to-male-NPT adapter applications in residential and light commercial plumbing systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber following local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and depressurize and drain the line before soldering. Use appropriate flux and lead-free solder when making the sweat connection on the cup end. Apply thread sealant tape or compound to the male NPT threads before connecting to the mating female threaded port.
