The NIBCO INC W00730D is a lead-free copper reducing coupling designed to connect a larger-diameter tube to a smaller-diameter tube using a sweat (solder cup) end connection. Sized at 1/2 inch by 3/8 inch with a CxC configuration, this fitting is a staple in residential and light commercial plumbing systems wherever a tube size transition is required in a copper supply line. Plumbers and pipefitters install it using standard soft or hard solder per applicable plumbing codes. The lead-free construction meets current potable water requirements.
This coupling sees regular use in domestic water supply systems, refrigeration tubing runs, and hydronic piping where a reduction from 1/2 inch copper tube to 3/8 inch copper tube is needed. It is well suited to tight-space installs such as under-sink supply connections, icemaker lines, and fixture shut-off stub-outs. The fitting is sold in packages of 25, making it practical for stocking a service truck or supply room.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with standard 1/2 inch and 3/8 inch copper tubing systems using CxC sweat connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with the International Plumbing Code (IPC) and applicable local codes. Shut off the water supply and fully depressurize and dry the line before soldering — residual moisture will prevent a proper joint. Use appropriate flux and solder rated for potable water service; lead-free solder is required on all potable water systems. Allow the joint to cool completely before restoring pressure.
