The NIBCO CN00355 is a Schedule 80 polypropylene pipe coupling designed for joining 1/2-inch female-threaded pipe runs in industrial and plumbing systems. Molded from polypropylene, it handles maximum working temperatures up to 180 degrees F, making it suitable for hot and cold water distribution, chemical handling, and other fluid systems where metal fittings are not appropriate. The FPT x FPT end connections accept standard male-threaded pipe on both ends. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in applications that demand corrosion resistance and lightweight construction without sacrificing pressure rating.
This coupling is commonly used in residential and commercial plumbing, irrigation systems, and industrial piping where polypropylene's chemical resistance is an advantage over metal or PVC fittings. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides additional pressure capacity compared to Schedule 40, making it a preferred choice in higher-demand fluid systems. It is sold individually and is well suited for repair work or new installation in 1/2-inch pipe runs requiring threaded connections.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/2-inch Schedule 80 polypropylene threaded piping systems conforming to ASTM D4101.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the supply line completely before removing any existing fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and tighten to hand-snug plus a fraction of a turn — do not over-tighten polypropylene fittings, as the material can crack under excessive torque. Pressure-test the repaired section before returning the system to service.
