The NIBCO CN00250 is a 3-inch Schedule 80 polypropylene socket coupling designed to join sections of plastic pipe in industrial and chemical piping systems. It features Slip x SR FIPT end connections, allowing one socket end to accept a plain pipe end and the other to accept a standard reinforced female iron pipe thread. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides greater pressure capacity than Schedule 40, making this coupling appropriate for more demanding flow and pressure conditions. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting in corrosive-fluid, chemical-process, and industrial water systems where polypropylene's chemical resistance and lightweight properties are required.
This coupling is used in commercial and industrial piping installations where Schedule 80 polypropylene is specified for resistance to acids, bases, and other corrosive media. The 3-inch size suits main distribution lines in process piping, chemical handling, and industrial water treatment applications. The SR FIPT thread end accommodates standard threaded connections into equipment or valve bodies, while the slip end allows solvent-welded or fusion connections depending on system design.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 3-inch Schedule 80 polypropylene piping systems using Slip x SR FIPT end connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Depressurize and drain the piping system fully before cutting into any existing line. Solvent cementing or fusion methods appropriate for polypropylene must be used on the slip end — do not use standard PVC cement on polypropylene fittings. Verify thread engagement and seal on the SR FIPT end before returning the system to service.
