The NIBCO CE03450 is a flush threaded reducer bushing made from PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) thermoplastic, designed for use in Schedule 80 piping systems. It transitions from a 2-inch male iron pipe thread (MIPT) on the outer end to a 1.5-inch female iron pipe thread (FIPT) on the inner end. PVDF offers excellent chemical resistance and performs well in aggressive fluid handling applications involving acids, solvents, and high-purity process fluids. Plumbers and industrial pipe fitters install this bushing where a reduction in pipe diameter is needed within a threaded plastic piping system. The flush design keeps the bushing seated flush within the fitting socket for a clean, low-profile connection.
This reducer bushing is suited for industrial process piping, chemical distribution systems, and high-purity water applications where PVDF is specified for its resistance to corrosive media. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides additional pressure-bearing capacity compared to Schedule 40, making this fitting appropriate for demanding service conditions. It meets ASTM D3222 standards, which govern unmodified PVDF materials used in pressure piping components. Licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters handle installation in commercial and industrial settings.

Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes and system design specifications. Depressurize and drain the piping system fully before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Use PTFE thread tape or a thread sealant rated compatible with PVDF and the conveyed media — do not use petroleum-based compounds that can degrade plastic threads. Hand-tighten first, then advance only as needed to achieve a leak-free seal, as over-torquing PVDF threads can cause cracking.
