The NIBCO CE02850 is a Schedule 80 PVDF pipe end cap with a 1-inch female iron pipe thread (FIPT) end connection. It is used to terminate the end of a threaded pipe run, preventing flow and sealing the line. PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) is a high-performance thermoplastic rated for aggressive chemical environments, making this cap well suited for industrial piping, chemical processing, and high-purity water systems. Licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters are the typical installers. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides added pressure capacity over Schedule 40 fittings.
This end cap is suited for applications where chemical resistance, purity, or elevated operating pressures are required. It is commonly installed in chemical feed systems, semiconductor fabrication lines, laboratory piping, and industrial fluid handling systems where metal fittings are not acceptable due to corrosion or contamination concerns. The FIPT connection threads directly onto a male-threaded pipe end for a straightforward field installation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-inch Schedule 80 thermoplastic piping systems with male NPT threaded end connections.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified industrial pipefitter. Shut off flow and depressurize the line completely before threading on the cap. Use PTFE thread tape or a compatible thread sealant rated for PVDF and the intended service fluid. Do not over-torque the fitting, as PVDF threads can crack under excessive force; hand-tight plus a controlled number of turns with a strap wrench is standard practice for plastic threaded fittings.
