The NIBCO CD04350 is a Schedule 80 PVDF threaded union designed for 1-inch pipe systems requiring a reliable, chemical-resistant mechanical joint. PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) construction makes this union well-suited for aggressive fluid handling applications where metal fittings are not appropriate. The female iron pipe thread (FIPT) connections on both ends allow secure engagement with standard threaded pipe. At 1 pound, the fitting is compact and lightweight without sacrificing the pressure ratings associated with Schedule 80 plastic fittings. Plumbers and pipefitters working on chemical process, industrial, or high-purity water systems will find this union appropriate for joining or disconnecting lines without disturbing surrounding piping.
This union is intended for use in systems conveying corrosive chemicals, ultrapure water, or other fluids where PVDF's broad chemical compatibility is required. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides additional pressure capability over Schedule 40, making it a common choice in industrial and light commercial piping systems. The red color coding is standard for PVDF Schedule 80 fittings, aiding identification during installation and maintenance. FIPT x FIPT end connections accommodate standard NPT-threaded pipe on both sides of the union joint.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1-inch Schedule 80 PVDF threaded piping systems with NPT female iron pipe thread connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter familiar with thermoplastic piping systems. Depressurize and drain the line completely before disassembling or installing any union. Use PTFE tape or a thread sealant rated for PVDF and the specific fluid being handled — do not use pipe dopes that contain solvents incompatible with PVDF. Avoid over-tightening threaded connections, as PVDF is a rigid thermoplastic and excessive torque can crack fittings.
