The NIBCO CD04250 is a Schedule 80 PVDF threaded union designed for 1/2 inch plastic piping systems. PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) is a high-purity thermoplastic that resists aggressive chemicals, UV exposure, and elevated temperatures, making it a preferred material in demanding fluid-handling applications. This union features female iron pipe thread (FIPT) connections on both ends, allowing it to be installed without solvent cementing. The red color indicates PVDF construction and aids in quick visual identification during inspections. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting where a line needs to be broken for maintenance or equipment removal without cutting pipe.
This union is suited for chemical processing lines, high-purity water systems, and industrial plumbing where PVDF's resistance to corrosive media is required. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides added pressure capacity compared to Schedule 40. Typical installations include chemical feed lines, DI water loops, and industrial process piping in both commercial and light industrial settings. The FIPT x FIPT configuration threads onto Schedule 80 male-threaded pipe or fittings on both sides.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 1/2 inch Schedule 80 PVDF threaded piping systems with FIPT connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter familiar with thermoplastic piping systems. Shut off and depressurize the line completely before disassembly or installation. Use PTFE tape or a thread sealant rated for PVDF and the media being conveyed — do not use petroleum-based compounds that may degrade the plastic. Refer to applicable IPC or local plumbing code for pressure and temperature derating requirements.
