The NIBCO CD04050 is a 3/4-inch Schedule 80 PVDF socket union designed for joining and disconnecting plastic pipe sections in chemical and industrial piping systems. Fabricated from polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), this union resists a broad range of aggressive chemicals, making it well suited for applications where standard PVC or CPVC fittings would fail. The slip inlet and straight ribbed female iron pipe thread (SR FIPT) outlet configuration allows secure, solvent-welded connections with compatible PVDF pipe. The red color provides quick visual identification common to PVDF Schedule 80 fittings in the field.
This union is used in residential and commercial chemical distribution lines, high-purity water systems, industrial process piping, and laboratory plumbing. It is appropriate anywhere a field-serviceable break union is required in a PVDF pressure system operating under Schedule 80 rated conditions. Plumbers and pipefitters working in chemical processing, semiconductor fabrication, or water treatment will encounter this fitting as a standard maintenance access point.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVDF piping systems with 3/4-inch pipe connections using slip socket and SR FIPT end configurations.
Installation of PVDF socket unions is typically performed by licensed plumbers or industrial pipefitters familiar with solvent cementing of fluoropolymer pipe. De-pressurize and drain the system fully before removing or installing the union. Use only PVDF-rated solvent cement and primer as specified by the pipe and fitting manufacturer. Follow applicable plumbing codes, including IPC guidelines, for pressure testing after installation.
