The NIBCO CD03948 is a Schedule 80 PVDF threaded pipe nipple designed for demanding fluid-handling applications where chemical resistance and pressure performance are required. Measuring 2 inches in pipe diameter and 6 inches in length, this nipple is molded from polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), a high-performance thermoplastic that resists a broad range of aggressive chemicals, including acids, bases, and solvents. The red color provides quick visual identification for chemically sensitive or high-purity piping systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in industrial, commercial, and specialty process systems.
This nipple is suited for chemical processing lines, ultrapure water systems, semiconductor facilities, and industrial process piping where metal corrosion or contamination is a concern. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides added pressure capacity compared to Schedule 40, making it appropriate for higher-pressure service runs. The threaded ends connect to standard NPT-threaded fittings, valves, and equipment. It is typically installed in horizontal or vertical runs as a close or short extension between threaded components.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVDF threaded piping systems using standard NPT thread connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter familiar with thermoplastic piping systems and applicable IPC or ASME B31.3 process piping codes. Shut off and depressurize the line completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Use PTFE thread tape or a PVDF-compatible thread sealant rated for the service fluid — do not use petroleum-based pipe dopes, which can degrade PVDF. Avoid over-tightening, as excessive torque can crack thermoplastic threads.
