The NIBCO CD02700 is a 2-inch Schedule 80 PVDF socket cap designed to terminate the end of a piping run in demanding industrial and chemical process applications. Manufactured from polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), this cap delivers strong resistance to a wide range of corrosive chemicals, making it suitable for systems that cannot use metal fittings. The red color coding aids in quick visual identification on multi-line installations. The Slip x SR FIPT end connection provides a solvent-welded socket on one end and a standard reinforced female iron pipe thread on the other. Licensed plumbers and industrial pipefitters are the typical installers.
This socket cap is used in Schedule 80 thermoplastic piping systems found in chemical processing facilities, water treatment plants, semiconductor manufacturing, and similar environments where aggressive media or high-purity requirements rule out metallic components. The 2-inch fitting size suits medium-diameter lines in both new construction and retrofit work. Its Schedule 80 wall thickness supports elevated pressure ratings consistent with that schedule for PVDF material.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for 2-inch Schedule 80 PVDF thermoplastic piping systems using solvent-cement socket connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified industrial pipefitter familiar with thermoplastic solvent-cement joining procedures. Depressurize and drain the piping system fully before cutting into any existing line. Use only PVDF-compatible solvent cement and follow the manufacturer joining procedure for cure time before returning the system to service. Consult applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC for pressure ratings and installation requirements specific to PVDF Schedule 80 fittings.
