The NIBCO CD02450 is a 2-inch Schedule 80 hex plug manufactured from PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride), a high-performance thermoplastic rated for demanding chemical and industrial piping applications. It features male NPT (MNPT) end connections on both ends and is color-coded red for quick material identification in the field. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides greater pressure rating and mechanical durability compared to Schedule 40 fittings. This plug is designed to close off the end of a threaded pipe or fitting in systems where chemical resistance, purity, or temperature cycling are primary concerns. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers.
This hex plug is suited for industrial process piping, chemical handling systems, ultrapure water lines, and other applications where PVDF material compatibility is required. The MNPT thread configuration allows it to thread directly into female NPT fittings, valve bodies, or pipe ends without adapters. Its Schedule 80 rating makes it appropriate for higher-pressure service lines where standard plastic fittings would not meet system requirements. The red color coding helps technicians quickly distinguish PVDF components from PVC, CPVC, or polypropylene fittings in multi-material installations.

Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or pipefitters familiar with thermoplastic threaded fittings. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded plug. Use an appropriately sized hex wrench or pipe wrench on the hex body — do not over-torque, as PVDF threads can crack under excessive force. Apply PTFE tape or a compatible thread sealant rated for PVDF and the specific media being conveyed; consult the system design engineer if chemical compatibility of the sealant is uncertain.
