The NIBCO CC04950 is a flush socket reducer bushing designed for use in Schedule 80 polypropylene piping systems. It transitions a 2-inch socket plain end (SPG) fitting down to a 1-inch socket (S) connection, allowing techs to reduce line size without additional couplings or adapters. Molded from black polypropylene, this bushing handles corrosive fluids, chemical process lines, and industrial drain applications where standard PVC or metal fittings are not suitable. It is a direct solvent-weld fitting, installed by licensed plumbers and pipefitters following applicable IPC and IPEX standards for thermoplastic piping.
This bushing is suited for residential and commercial plumbing, chemical distribution, and industrial process piping where polypropylene's chemical resistance is required. The Schedule 80 wall thickness provides additional pressure-bearing capacity compared to Schedule 40 fittings, making it appropriate for higher-demand service lines. Plumbing contractors and mechanical contractors typically specify this fitting in drain, waste, vent, or low-pressure chemical feed systems that use polypropylene throughout.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 polypropylene piping systems using 2-inch SPG and 1-inch socket end connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter familiar with thermoplastic solvent-weld procedures. Depressurize and drain the line completely before removing or installing any fittings. Use only polypropylene-compatible solvent cement and primer rated for Schedule 80 applications, and allow full cure time before returning the line to service. Follow IPC and local code requirements for support spacing and system testing.
