The NIBCO B106500 is a cast copper pressure tee fitting used to create a branch connection in copper piping systems. It features a reducing center outlet, with a 2-1/2 inch run on both ends and a 1/2 inch branch outlet. All three ends use a sweat (C x C x C) connection, designed for soldered joints. Weighing 2.46 pounds, it is suited for pressure applications in residential and commercial plumbing systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting where a branch line must be pulled from a main 2-1/2 inch copper run.
This fitting is appropriate for potable water supply lines, hydronic heating distribution piping, and general pressure piping installations where copper is the specified material. The reducing branch allows a smaller 1/2 inch line to be tapped off a larger 2-1/2 inch main without additional reducing couplings inline. It is typically found in commercial mechanical rooms, multifamily residential plumbing rough-ins, and hydronic systems requiring branch takeoffs at the main distribution trunk.
Designed as an OEM-style pressure fitting for use in standard copper pipe systems following ASTM B88 tubing dimensions, where 2-1/2 inch and 1/2 inch sweat connections are required.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber following applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and drain the water supply before cutting into any existing line. Clean and flux all mating surfaces thoroughly before soldering to ensure a leak-free joint. Do not apply heat directly to the fitting body longer than necessary, as overheating cast copper fittings can compromise joint integrity.
