The NATIONAL MFG/SPECTRUM BRANDS HHI N179-481 is a zinc-plated threaded rod designed for general fastening, hanging, and support applications across mechanical, plumbing, and construction trades. Measuring 10-24 inches in diameter by 36 inches in length, it features UNC coarse threads throughout its full length. The zinc finish provides corrosion resistance suitable for indoor and light-duty applications. With a minimum tensile strength of 6 KSI and compliance with ASTM A37 Grade A, this rod meets standard structural fastening requirements. It can be drilled, cut, heated, or shaped in the field, making it adaptable to a wide range of installation conditions.
This threaded rod is suited for residential and light commercial installations where an all-thread fastener is needed for mounting, bracing, or suspending mechanical equipment, pipe hangers, electrical conduit supports, or structural fixtures. It is sold in a package of 3 rods, making it practical for jobs requiring multiple fasteners of the same size. Tradespeople in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical disciplines regularly use threaded rod of this type for equipment support and overhead hanging systems.
Designed as a standard 10-24 UNC coarse thread rod suitable for use with compatible threaded nuts, couplings, hangers, and hardware in general mechanical and construction fastening applications.
Installation is typically performed by HVAC technicians, plumbers, or electricians during equipment rough-in or support-framing work. Use appropriate cutting tools such as a hacksaw or rod cutter when trimming to length, and deburr cut ends before threading on hardware. When used in overhead or load-bearing applications, verify that the supporting structure and all connected hardware meet the load requirements of the installation. Consult applicable codes such as NEC, IPC, or IMC for specific support spacing and fastener requirements relevant to your trade.
