The NATIONAL MFG/SPECTRUM BRANDS HHI N179-531 is a zinc-plated threaded rod measuring 1/2-13 x 36 inches with UNC coarse thread form. This full-length rod is used to create fastening assemblies, hang mechanical systems, or serve as a structural connecting element in a wide range of construction and trade applications. It meets ASTM A37 Grade A standards, carries a minimum tensile strength of 6 KSI, and has a safe working load (SWL) of 3,100 pounds. The zinc finish provides basic corrosion resistance for dry and semi-exposed installations. Sold in a package of 5.
This threaded rod is suited for residential and light commercial mechanical, plumbing, and electrical installations where an all-thread fastener is required. Common applications include pipe hangers, equipment supports, HVAC duct and equipment mounting, and electrical conduit support systems. The rod can be drilled, cut, heated, or shaped on the job site, giving installers flexibility to size it for the specific application at hand.
Designed for use with standard 1/2-13 UNC nuts, couplings, rod hangers, and beam clamps commonly used in mechanical, plumbing, and electrical support assemblies.
Threaded rod of this type is installed by licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, electricians, and general contractors working within applicable building and mechanical codes. Always de-energize electrical systems and isolate mechanical systems before installing or adjusting support hardware. Use appropriate cutting tools such as a hacksaw or abrasive cutoff wheel when field-cutting to length, and chase the cut end with a die to restore clean thread form. Verify that the SWL of 3,100 pounds is not exceeded for the intended load application.
